Concrete Estimates & Takeoff Services

Concrete estimating proposals are a time-consuming process, and every subcontractor knows it. It’s also an expensive process because of the high salaries of the estimators, expensive software, scarcity of leads and bid invitations, etc. Most contractors don’t have enough resources to spend a huge amount on their bidding sales process and in turn may even end up spending their own time preparing concrete estimates & takeoff. This wastes your time and energy that could be better spent on establishing relationships and getting new leads.

About Concrete Estimates

Bidding on concrete isn’t something you can do without properly estimating the materials needed. For that purpose, you have to go through all the structural drawings, read related specifications etc. Similarly, Labor estimate and the equipment requirement is also a key part of concrete estimation.

Use our concrete estimation services to accurately estimate the amount of concrete estimating your customer needs. All you need is the customer’s base dimensions, type of project, and grade/slab thickness. Our engineers will take care of the rest! Not only do we offer a concrete estimation service, but also affordable prices with a satisfaction guarantee!

1.       The very first thing is to check the concrete grade for footings, beams, slab, columns, etc. Then check for the steel rebar grade for different locations. We provide concrete based on the concrete grade (3000 PSI, 3500 PSI, 4000 PSI, and so on).

2.       For footings, beams, and columns concrete is provided in CY. For this purpose, we simply divide the total cubic footage by 27.

3.       Slab on grade and elevated slabs are provided is square footage.

Purpose of Concrete Estimates

The purpose of a concrete estimates is to provide a detailed estimate of the cost of the materials and labor needed to construct a project. A concrete takeoff is usually done by an estimator who has knowledge of construction costs and techniques, but it can also be created by an architect or engineer.

A concrete estimate provides a breakdown for each item required for the project, such as labor, equipment rental or purchases, labor supply, and material. It also includes any other expenses that may not be included in the base price for materials, like overhead costs and profit margin.

This breakdown allows you to create a detailed concrete estimate that you can use when bidding on your next job.

ACCURATE QUANTITY TAKEOFFS

Determining accurate quantities for any job is critical to getting an estimate right. Our team ensures we develop a detailed, itemized and accurate Bill of Quantities that is a true reflection of your project.

DETAILED COST ESTIMATING

We prepare cost estimates by taking into account labor and material costs related to your company and combine those with crew compositions & productivities.

Concrete takeoff is a document that is prepared before the start of the construction process. It is an estimate of the materials required for a particular construction project. The concrete estimates should provide all the information about the materials and labor that are needed to complete a project.

The document should include the following:

  • Quantities and description of materials required for each work item in the construction process
  • Estimated cost of labor
  • Estimated cost of material
  • Description of any unique or unusual items or conditions

Why Outsource Your Concrete Estimates

Estimating costs and prices for concrete is difficult. Knowing how and where to find a reputable company can be challenging. The quality of an estimator’s estimate can be the difference between profit or loss on a project. Outsource your estimates at a fraction of the price by using an expert in the field to calculate your cost and prices for concrete. This expert will provide you with accurate, detailed estimates that are invaluable when making a decision on whether you want to pursue a project or not.

What we cover in concrete estimates

CONCRETE

We divide the concrete work into these sub-divisions based on the available information

    • Spread footing (also called pad or isolated footing)
    • Concrete Pedestal
    • Continuous Footing
    • Concrete Wall
    • Grade Beams
    • Concrete Columns
    • Concrete Wall Panels
    • Slab on Grade
    • Elevated Slab
    • Concrete Topping Over Steel Treads and Landing

The above sub-divisions are further broken out into five major categories as;

    • Concrete
    • Steel Rebar
    • Formwork
    • Excavation/Backfill

Now we will explore all five components of the concrete estimation.

Concrete

  1. The very first thing is to check the concrete grade for footings, beams, slabs, columns, etc. Then check for the steel rebar grade for different locations. We provide concrete based on the concrete grade (3000 PSI, 3500 PSI, 4000 PSI, and so on).
  2. For footings, beams, and columns, concrete is provided in CY. For this purpose, we simply divide the total cubic footage by 27.
  3. Slabs on grade and elevated slabs are provided in square footage.

Steel Rebar

  1. Steel rebars are provided in pounds (lbs.)
  2. Steel rebars are provided based on the steel grade (Grade 40, Grade 60, etc.)
  3. Steel bars are then differentiated based on the diameter of the bar (e.g., #3, #4, #5, #6, etc.)
  4. These are also provided based on the location of the bars (Horizontal bars, Longitudinal bars, stirrups/ties, dowels, etc.)
  5. There are some cases where steel bars are drilled into some kind of existing slab or footing. In that case, we provide the bar counts with respect to the length.
  6. Some structures are being built near coastal areas. There epoxy coated steel bars are used. Epoxy-coated bars are more expensive than normal steel bars.
  7. Welded wire fabric is used in slabs and provided in square footage.
  8. Rebar dowels for masonry walls are taken with concrete.

Formwork

  1. Formwork is provided in the SFCA (Square footage of contact area) unit.
  2. It is provided based on the location where it is being used (e.g., spread footing, continuous footing, concrete wall, etc.)
  3. For slabs, we provide an edge form on the boundary of the slab.
  4. Edge form for different sizes is provided in LF (e.g., 4”, 6”, 8”, etc.)
  5. For elevated slabs, an angle edge form is being used, which is also provided in terms of LF.

Excavation/Backfill

  1. Excavation is taken as per the depth and size of the structure.
  2. Quantities for excavation and backfill are provided in CY.

Misc. Concrete Items

Misc. concrete items included

    1. Aggregate base course under slab
    2. Vapor barriers
    3. Insulation
    4. Control joints for slab
    5. Expansion joists for slab
    6. Drainage pipe
    7. Installation of steel plates
    8. Installation of hold downs
    9. Pre-cast concrete lintels

Our Process for concrete estimates

Concrete estimation is a service where we will provide you with an estimate for your project using a professional estimator that evaluates all of your project needs. The first thing we do when providing you with an estimate is take into account the cost of materials, which includes concrete, rebar, and formwork. The second thing we take into account is the cost of labor, which includes labor costs for pouring concrete, installing rebar and formwork, as well as any other labor costs that are related to your project. After taking these two factors into consideration we can give you a very accurate price quote for your project.
